Helping Your Child Attend School Every Day
Good attendance is extremely important and is associated with improved mental health and wellbeing, better student outcomes, and higher attainment.
We work in partnership with our parents to ensure that students attend regularly and on time. Each day a student is absent, equates to 6 lessons of instructions and learning missed, which can be difficult to catch up on. Students have 175 days of non-school days and we should ensure all our students attend 190 days of learning. Holiday requests during term time will not be authorised.
Our wellbeing page has advice and guidance on school attendance problems, anxiety and mental health.
Importance of Attendance
Every Day Counts
Recent research shows that even missing one day has negative impact on a student’s achievements. Evidence shows that the students with the highest attendance throughout their time in school achieve the best GCSE and A Level results. Secondary school pupils who didn’t pass English and maths missed 10 more days over KS4 than those who did.
Our Multi-Tiered System of Support
To guarantee a comprehensive approach to attendance, we implement a Multi-Tiered System of Support. A Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for school attendance involves three tiers of support with roles for teachers, the school, children, parents, and external agencies, including the Local Authority.
Request for leave
You can complete the leave request form via the parent portal. Please note, leave requests will only be authorised in exceptional circumstances.
For more details, please read our attendance policy.
If your child will be absent, please contact the school office on 0121 7737496 by 9 am.

Punctuality
“By time. Indeed, mankind is in loss. Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience” (Quran 103: 1-3).

15 minutes | 9.5 days from school | 57 lessons |
20 minutes | 13 days from school | 76 lessons |
30 minutes | 19 days from school | 114 lessons |
